Exam Duration and Subjects

The CLAT exam lasts for 2 hours and is conducted in a pen-and-paper format. In addition to reading comprehension and verbal reasoning, the test evaluates skills such as legal aptitude, logical reasoning, quantitative abilities, and general knowledge.

Eligibility Criteria

  • For UG Courses: Applicants must have completed their 12th grade.
  • For PG Courses: A law degree or its equivalent, as recognized by India's higher education authority, is required.
    Eligibility specifics may vary by university, so it's recommended to check the official CLAT notification for detailed information.
  • In CLAT 2024, the UG Program will have no upper age limit.
  • In terms of the minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination), candidates must have obtained:
  • 45% marks or its equivalent grade in the case of candidates belonging to the General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI categories; 
  • 45% marks or its equivalent grade in the case of candidates belonging to the General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO
  • In the case of candidates from the SC/ST categories, 40% or equivalent is required.
  • Candidates who take the qualifying test in March/April 2024 are also eligible to take the CLAT 2024 exam. They will be asked to submit proof of passing the qualifying test at the time of admission, failing which they will forfeit their right to be considered for admission.

As of now, there's no confirmation about whether the CLAT 2025 application correction window will be available. Last year, no corrections were allowed, so ensure accuracy when submitting your application.

CLAT 2025 Registration Fees

Expected fee structure for CLAT 2025:

  • General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI: ₹4,000
  • SC/ST/BPL: ₹3,500

CLAT 2024 Exam Pattern

Though the official pattern for CLAT 2024 is no longer relevant, the general format for the exam includes:

CLAT 2024 consists of 5 sections and is administered online. Each question is worth one mark, and there is a CLAT Negative Marking of 0.25 points for each erroneous response.
