The Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) has established JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) to oversee and standardize joint seat allocation for admissions to over 100 institutes, encompassing IITs, NITs, IIITs, and Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). A unified platform has been introduced to streamline the admission process for all these institutes, aiming to ensure numerous engineering college seats remain occupied nationwide. The Joint seat allocation process is implemented to enhance the overall efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, and speed of the admissions process.
Candidates who successfully qualify for JEE Main or JEE Advanced must register for JoSAA 2024 to partake in the counselling and admission procedures for various prestigious engineering institutes across India. The admission process for 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and 38 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs) is overseen by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). 2024 candidates will undergo seat allotment in seven rounds of JoSAA counselling. Seat allocations will be determined based on candidates' merits and their preferences for courses and colleges.
All candidates who qualify in JEE Main and JEE Advanced are eligible for admission to numerous participating institutes, with over 50,000 undergraduate engineering seats (BTech/BE) available for eligible candidates. This article provides valuable information for engineering aspirants seeking details about JoSAA 2024. Q1. How is CSAB different from JoSAA?
Ans: CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) and JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) play roles in India's engineering admission seat allocation process but differ in their procedures. Initially, JoSAA concludes its JEE Main Counselling for admissions to IITs, NITs, and other participating colleges. Subsequently, CSAB carries out two rounds to fill any remaining vacant seats in NITs, IIITs, and other colleges, excluding IITs.
Q2. Is there a possibility that a candidate's name appears in one or more JoSAA rank lists?
Ans: Certainly, it is highly probable for a candidate to be listed in multiple rank lists. This is contingent upon the candidate's category, physical disability status, and performance in the entrance exam. It's crucial to emphasize that the counselling process is determined by the candidate's All India Rank (AIR) or Common Rank List (CRL) as indicated in the relevant rank list. JoSAA dictates the order of priority for the counselling process, aligning with the specified sequence of the rank lists.
